U.S. Senator George LeMieux (R-FL) today made the following statement in response to the new sanctions announced by the Republic of Korea (ROK) against the Government of Iran.
"I commend the Government of the Republic of Korea for issuing an important set of sanctions in response to Iran's continued violation of its international nonproliferation obligations. These sanctions demonstrate the ROK's solid commitment to nonproliferation and standing as a responsible member of the international community. With this step, Korea joins the United States, the European Union, Japan, Australia, Canada, and other nations in a growing global unity against Iran's illicit nuclear program. I hope this decision will prompt a commitment from China to take meaningful action to curb Iran's nuclear enrichment program. I look forward to continue strengthening bilateral relations with Korea, including the swift Congressional adoption of the long-delayed U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement."
