Hoeffel Calls on Bush and Republican Leadership to Hold Special Session on 9/11 Report

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Please find below a statement from Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Joe Hoeffel calling on President Bush and Republican leadership to bring Congress back for a special session in August to address the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Report:

"We have now heard from a bipartisan commission that has spent months and months exhaustively poring over information surrounding the terrorist attacks of September 11. They have made a number of very clear and compelling conclusions, and we need to act on them now - not in a few months but now.

"I call on President Bush and the Republican leadership to put partisan politics aside and bring Congress back for a special session in August. We must address the commission's recommendations through expedited hearings and existing and new legislation. The stakes are too high to wait, and Congress needs to come together to take meaningful action now. There is not a moment to lose."
