Current research is showing the benefits of early childhood education for economic reasons as well as for academic advances for children. For each one dollar spent, the community sees a benefit of 12-13 dollars. Kids in these programs are less likely to repeat a grade, less likely to need special remedial help, less likely to become involved in crime and drugs, and more likely to find better jobs and pay taxes. This results in a stronger quality workforce that improves the economy in a community.
