Jon Barela, the Republican candidate for New Mexico's First Congressional District, released the following statement today, in response to Martin Heinrich's latest television advertisement:
"Clearly, Martin Heinrich is trying to sprint as fast as he can away from the costly and wildly unpopular job-killing agenda he's been supporting in Washington. He's voted 97 percent of the time with Nancy Pelosi -- for $670 billion in tax increases, for a cap and trade bill that would kill jobs and impose a national energy tax on consumers and job creators, and for a government overhaul of the health care system that will raise insurance
premiums and cut half a trillion dollars from Medicare. And at every turn, Martin Heinrich has authorized Washington's reckless and wasteful spending spree, sending our national debt to an unsustainable $13 trillion.
Heinrich doesn't want to talk about his toxic record because New Mexico families don't support it and will be paying the price for his detrimental choices for generations to come. Worse yet, Martin Heinrich's record has failed to create jobs in New Mexico and it has failed to put our economy back on track."
