Statement

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) released the following statement regarding Iran's nuclear program and the country's weapons advancements over the weekend.

"I am deeply troubled with Iran's nuclear program and weapons advancement. Iran, on Saturday, initiated the start up of its first nuclear reactor, unveiled a long-range aerial drone on Sunday, and today the country announced the production of two types of missile-equipped speedboats," stated Bono Mack. "I have serious concerns that Iran's nuclear activities, despite its stated purpose of producing nuclear power, will instead lead to the development of nuclear weapons. I am troubled with the direction the White House is taking our country; weakness in foreign policy should never be an option. The U.S. and our allies need to stand strong against Iran and its pursuit of nuclear weapons that threaten the stability and prospects for peace in the Middle East."
