Joe Negron believes that Florida must provide an effective and rigorous public education for all its citizens. After public safety is properly supported, Joe's number one budget priority is funding and enhancing our public schools. Joe believes that the first and most important educators to children are parents and that the principal responsibility for educating a child rests with the parents. Joe supports the right of parents to choose public, independent or parochial education, as well as home schooling. As House Appropriations Chairman, Joe proposed significant increases in K-12 school funding, which led to substantial increases in teacher salaries throughout Florida.
