» In 1999 alone, he helped provide $1 billion in tax relief to Florida's families, small businesses and seniors, the largest tax relief package in Florida's history.
» Helped initiate the popular back-to-school sales tax holiday, which brought needed tax relief to Florida families.
» Voted to eliminate the intangibles tax on savings and do away with the state's death tax.
» Participated in creating and passing welfare reform known as Welfare-to-Work, which required individuals who receive assistance to work for it. Just five years later, the state had already seen a 70% decrease in Florida families on welfare and in 2006 Florida had the nation's lowest rate of families on welfare (just 1.3 percent of households).
» Supported economic stimulus efforts immediately after September 11, which created 33,000 new jobs through accelerated highway projects, school construction projects and a measure to boost Florida's tourism marketing.
