Full Impact of Bill Becoming Clearer Every Day
The Associated Press reports "Family and Social Services Administration Secretary Anne Murphy and acting Insurance Commissioner Stephen Robertson sent Gov. Mitch Daniels a letter estimating the [health care] overhaul now will cost Indiana at least $3.16 billion over the next 10 years, and possibly as much as $3.81 billion. The new estimates are $235 million higher that a previous estimate in May."
Dan Coats, Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, released the following statement:
"Incumbent Congressman Ellsworth voted for President Obama and Speaker Pelosi's health spending bill opposed by a majority of Hoosiers, even after Governor Daniels sent a personal letter to him prior to the vote outlining the adverse consequences and billions of dollars Indiana taxpayers would bear.
"This alarming news indicates the cost is even greater than originally estimated. Congressman Ellsworth said he listened to Hoosiers before he voted, but it looks like he did a lot more listening to President Obama and Speaker Pelosi than to Hoosiers.
"As time goes on, we will continue to expose the growing number of negative consequences President Obama and Speaker Pelosi's health care bill will have on Hoosier families. Billions of dollars in tax increases, a job-killing federal power grab of the student loan industry and drastic cuts to Medicare are apparently only the tip of the iceberg."
