Congressman Zack Space (OH-18) celebrated Ohio winning the Race to the Top competition and receiving $400 million in funds for schools.
"Rural schools face special challenges, and it is beyond time that we gave them the funding they need," Space said. "We owe it to our children to provide them with only the best education, and this additional funding will certainly help Ohio schools to do that."
Space has been pushing for innovative ways to serve children in rural schools, including his Connecting Appalachia broadband project, announced last week.
"Connecting Appalachia is going to bring broadband access to 231 K-12 school buildings serving 110,000 students. A good education today includes learning how to use Internet resources, which is why I worked hard to make broadband access for our schools a reality," Space said.
