Today Congressman Charlie Wilson (OH-6) learned that American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) plans to move forward with development of an approximately 600 MW natural gas combined cycle (NGCC) generating facility in Meigs County, which is in Ohio's Sixth Congressional District. Upon hearing the news, Rep. Wilson released the following statement:
"This is a huge win for our area. This facility means more jobs and more energy resources will be located right here in Meigs County. I have always maintained that our region is perfect for energy generation; we have the right experience and the right workforce for the jobs this plant will bring. I understand that AMP's development of the Meigs County plant is dependent upon the right combination of tax abatements and economic incentives. I will continue to do whatever I can to make this project a reality for our area."
