U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) today released the following statement as the President signed the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Border Security Act (H.R. 6080) into law. This legislation, which Congressman Altmire strongly supported, will deploy 1,000 additional Border Patrol agents along America's Southwest Border, improve border surveillance technology, and strengthen efforts to combat drug trafficking and drug-related violence.

"I have repeatedly voted to deploy more Border Patrol agents, because I want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to combat illegal immigration," Congressman Altmire said. "By increasing manpower and improving surveillance technology along the border, this new law will help us stop would-be illegal immigrants and make our nation more secure."
