"I am pleased the President quickly followed the lead of the House and Senate and signed legislation to provide additional resources for those on the front lines of our fight against illegal immigration. This legislation will provide 1,000 new Border Patrol agents, additional Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, and increased use of technology to crack down on those crossing our border illegally.
"This legislation may be just a small first step, but I hope it's a signal that our government is finally taking the problems posed by unchecked illegal immigration seriously. It's past time for the federal government to do its job and effectively secure our borders. People across the country- and especially those living along the border- have cried out for help long enough."
Both the House and Senate passed, without opposition, $600 million in additional border security funding earlier this week.
