U.S. Senator George LeMieux (R-FL) today made the following comments during his discussion at The Scripps Research Institute. LeMieux was at the Florida campus to receive an update on their research efforts.
"The employees of Scripps are doing some of the most important biomedical research in the world," LeMieux said. "This cutting-edge research will help to discover and provide treatments for some of the most debilitating diseases. Successful companies like Scripps play a crucial role in our state. Not only do they contribute to health care technology, but they also provide jobs and contribute greatly to the economy of our state."
The Scripps Research Institute is a world leader in biomedical and drug research. The Florida campus uses their advanced technologies to develop techniques to treat some of the most debilitating human diseases including HIV/AIDS, cancer, depression, diabetes, Parkinson's disease, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and autism.
