This has been batted around in the Legislature for years. When I was in the Governor's office as Legislative Director the Governor had this as part of his agenda every year. Of course it did not pass. Why? Lobbyist who do not want people to know who they are giving money to oppose this, as well as members of the Legislature, that want to hide contributions. It is a Montgomery shell game. The money is transferred from one Pac and then another, then another, then another until you cannot tell who gave the money.
I will strongly support legislation that will STOP THIS NONSENSE. If I receive money from XYZ Pac it should be the law that I have to disclose where that money came from and who gave it to me. That way voters can make a sound decision as to whether office holders deserve their support.
