A report released today by the Social Security and Medicare Board of Trustees, shows that the Affordable Care Act has improved the strength of both Medicare and Social Security. Rep. Wasserman Schultz made the following statement:
"This report provides the irrefutable evidence: The Affordable Care Act is good for seniors. With all of the challenges our economy has faced, we can still protect and ensure the health of our seniors. In fact, the bill has extended the solvency of Medicare by 12 years.
"Unfortunately, Congressional Republicans will not accept the facts: They voted against health care reform originally, and they are still trying to repeal it. In addition, they want to privatize Social Security, putting America's seniors at great risk. But we will not let this happen. Democrats will continue to move our country forward, not backward."
