With my experience in health care reform, fiscal accountability, and government operations, I know I can help get Connecticut moving in the right direction again.
I have been proud to lead the Office of the Healthcare Advocate for the last 5 years - a small, independent state agency. Each year, my office helps 2,000 - 3,000 patients fight insurance company denials and we've put nearly $20 million back in the pockets of consumers -- $6.7 million last year, alone.
People who interact with my office say it's like no other state agency they have ever encountered. Our quality service is widely recognized, and while that makes me very proud, it also frustrates me. Why can't more of government operate in this way? I think the answer is leadership.
