I figured out many years ago, that if you treat people like people - with respect; do what you say you're going to do, and tell them the truth; listen and act on their praise and their concerns; continually modify and improve your business practice; and, squeeze every nickel of your budget; then, and only then, can you provide a public service for people that they both value and support.
Over the years we've built efficiency and accountability into our agency, and demanded it of others. I've learned how to use the strength of government to protect people.
In the weeks and months ahead I look forward to discussing these issues in greater detail. I am certain that together we will select the best Democratic team, and go on to victory in November. I hope to gain your support and appreciate your input as I make decisions about the best way for me to continue my service to the people of Connecticut.
