Issue Position

Everyone agrees accessible, affordable healthcare is desirable. How to achieve this goal is a matter of debate.

Though well intentioned, government's expanded role has caused healthcare to be less accessible and more expensive. In the near future, Tennessee's General Assembly will have to grapple with the fallout from the healthcare reform enacted in Washington.

While we must be mindful of Tennesseans who are not able to access the full scope of healthcare options, we must do so while not undermining the free market component of our healthcare system.

As a legislator and physician, I will be uniquely positioned to help guide our decision making about how to fund, enact or shape healthcare reform as appropriate.
