Issue Position

Michigan must strive to become a player in the emerging clean energy industry. As a state with a strong agricultural and manufacturing base and rich in natural resources, we can become a leader in the creation of renewable energies.

We can do this by providing tax incentives to those who purchase hybrid, or alternative energy vehicles, and by continuing to expand nuclear power. The Cook Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgman and the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert produce clean energy, while employing over 1,800 people. By focusing on expanding nuclear energy, we can help to bring thousands of skilled and high-paying jobs to Michigan while making our state one of the greenest in the nation.
