Demanding higher ethical standards for all public officials is something we can all agree on. As State Representative, Steve Bieda introduced the Legal Defense Reporting Act of 2008, the most significant piece of ethics reform of the past decade. The Act closed a loophole the allowed politicians (such as Detroit's former mayor) to accept unlimited and anonymous donations to their legal defense fund from individuals and corporations.

Steve faced opposition. The first time he introduced the bill, it died in the House; the second time, it passed the House, but died in the Senate; the third time he introduced the bill, it reached the Governor's desk and became the only major piece of ethics reform enacted in seven years. As your State Senator, Steve will show this same tireless dedication to ethics and delivering Michigan the clean government it deserves.
