For decades, California government spending has been spiraling out of control. The spending habits have forced the state into yearly deficits. From 1998 to 2008, the state increased spending by nearly 80% - an eighty percent increase in spending in 10 years!
Yet most of us agree that the quality of our kids' education, the potholes in our roads, and the lines at the DMV haven't improved by 80%; not even close!
Some say that during tough economic times, we have to either decrease services or increase taxes. I disagree. We have a third option. We must know how state government is spending your hard earned taxpayer dollars.
* Stunningly, assemblymen and senators never sit down and analyze how hard-earned taxpayer dollars are spent.
* It's time we hold government truly accountable for taxpayer dollars and scrutinize government spending.
