Issue Position: District 42

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

I love this community. I was born here, and it has always brought me back home. Kate and I wouldn't raise our family anywhere else.

This district is home to world-class research and educational institutions, historic neighborhoods and beautiful parks. We are a diverse and vibrant community of people who are committed to making it an even better place to live.

And as I talk with so many of you, it's clear we are all passionate about this area and share a strong sense of pride in our community. Yet, we also know there is much more to be accomplished in our district and our state.

Our different layers of government must find new and better ways to work together. DeKalb County, the City of Decatur and the City of Atlanta all have a lot to offer. But only by working cooperatively can we rise to meet the challenges of governing in the twenty-first century.

If I am fortunate enough to serve as your next State Senator, I will work with the local governments in our district to find fair and innovative solutions to the challenges we face on issues of taxation, transportation, land use and others.

I will fight to ensure that our district has the resources and leadership to attract and maintain the world-class jobs, education, and quality of life. Working together, our elected officials can be a unified voice for an even stronger community.
