Continuing his crusade to protect American companies and consumers against the gross injustices committed by foreign manufacturers, who use unsafe materials and cheap labor to gain an unfair edge against American companies, U.S. Rep. Zack Space (OH-18) today blasted these foreign manufacturers and demanded that they be brought to justice.
"These foreign companies have been freely allowed to hurt Ohio's businesses and consumers with their defective goods for far too long," said Space. "Today, we begin to end the destructive and unfair practices that these businesses employ."
"This underscores exactly what is wrong with our trade policy," Space continued. "Foreign manufacturers use cheap labor and unsafe materials to produce defective products that put our children and families at risk. That practice isn't good for our neighbors."
Earlier, Space supported the Foreign Manufacturing Legal Accountability Act before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which holds foreign manufacturers and producers accountable for the injuries and damage they cause to American consumers as a result of unsafe products. Under current procedures, holding foreign manufacturers accountable for these injuries in U.S. Courts has proven extremely difficult. This bill restores legal rights to consumers against these foreign producers, leveling the playing field.
Congressman Space has represented Ohio's 18th Congressional District since 2007. He has been working to restore integrity to the office, and to create the conditions to bring new industry and jobs to Ohio. Recently, Congressman Space launched FIGHTING TO RENEW OHIO, the second phase of his plan to provide long-term economic growth in Ohio's 18th Congressional District.
