Although most Americans indicate that they are satisfied with the health care they receive, there is general agreement that reform is needed. America's healthcare system is the best in the world, but it is unnecessarily expensive and the cost of medical insurance is out of reach for many. Expanding fraud-riddled Medicare and Medicaid is not the answer. I disagree with health care legislation recently passed by Congress. It reduces freedom for Americans through increased taxation, yields more control of our lives to the government, and is designed to increase government dependency. We can do better. Unlocking health care monopolies by allow people to purchase health insurance across state lines and transforming the marketplace so that health care providers compete in a free and transparent market will brings costs down and put patients back in control.
