Issue Position: Values

Issue Position

President John Adams said: "We have no government armed with power capable of contenting with human passion unbridled by morality and religion... Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

I believe it is time our nation recognizes that we cannot sustain a "Government by the People and for the People" unless we as people share certain core principles that determine right from wrong and posses the ability to show respect in the midst of disagreements. Our nation's character consists of many people with diverse backgrounds, yet who are anchored on the truth that liberty arises from our Creator and that responsibility must be learned to arise from within. These core truths must be taught to each generation for our liberty to prevail. Our Founding Fathers asked, "Our Founding Fathers asked and debated, can people be self-governed or must a King, elite or Government tell us how to live?" It is now our task to again attest that we can be self-governed!
