Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today voted for legislation that will help U.S. manufacturers compete at home and abroad. The U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act (H.R. 4380) helps American companies by temporarily suspending or reducing duties on intermediate products or materials that our companies use to produce their goods. The U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act passed by a vote of 378 to 43.

"I agree with the US Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers and others that this bipartisan bill helps keep U.S. products and businesses competitive and it will help our economy," said Congresswoman Shea-Porter. "We all want the U.S. manufacturing sector to be competitive, innovative, and successful at home and overseas."

Congresswoman Shea-Porter is a member of the House Trade Working Group, which seeks to increase U.S. exports and encourage fair trade. The U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act is supported by more than 130 businesses, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers.
