Julie believes that escalating health care costs put our country at an economic disadvantage and are a crippling burden for families, individuals and small businesses.
The recently passed health care law, while needing improvement, contains many positive elements that help individuals and families. It prevents insurance companies from dropping our coverage when we get sick, bans discrimination based on pre-existing health conditions, creates tax credits for small businesses to provide health care to their employees, and lowers prescription drug costs for senior citizens. These are all positive steps forward.
As a State Legislator, Julie has been fighting to help families get the health care they need. She has worked with the private sector to improve preventative dental treatments for children. Julie also took on the special interests to ensure that hearing impaired and deaf children can receive hearing aids and cochlear implants through their parents insurance.
In Congress, Julie will work to make sure that costs for individuals and families are lowered and that federal savings are used to pay down our national debt. She will also work to protect Medicare benefits and make sure that Medicare funding isn't compromised or lowered as the new law is implemented.
