Today, Congressman Scott Murphy (NY-20) released the following statement after Lake Placid's 1932 & 1980 Olympic bobsled track was officially included in the National Register of Historic Places in a ceremony:
"The Olympics and the Lake Placid Olympic facilities are critical part of our local economy, heritage and community here in the North Country. Thirty years after Upstate New York last hosted the Olympics, the bobsled track truly is a historic site deserving of this recognition. Even today, tourists and residents still enjoy the track, and it provides a necessary source of income for the Adirondacks. The Olympics brought our community together, and I join with that community today in honoring the bobsled track's long and rich history."
