Moran: Government Must Enforce Laws, Not Reward Illegal Behavior

Congressman Jerry Moran issued the following statement today in response to remarks made by President Obama on immigration.

"President Obama's rhetoric doesn't match his actions when it comes to securing the border," Moran said. "Despite the need for more personnel along the border with Mexico, President Obama is only sending 1,200 National Guard troops. More troops and Border Patrol agents are needed to stop violence along the border and protect Americans."

"I also disagree with the President's support for the DREAM Act. The federal government must enforce our laws and not reward illegal behavior," said Moran.

Moran is a sponsor of the leading border security bill in Congress, H.R. 3308, the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement or SAVE, Act. This legislation will strengthen border security by hiring additional Border Patrol agents and making use of technology to monitor and protect our national boundaries
