Vitter Comments on Obama's Recess Appointment of Berwick

U.S. Sen. David Vitter today made the following statement in response to President Obama's recess appointment of Donald Berwick as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services:

"This is a completely wrongheaded appointment by the president. Dr. Berwick is a vocal supporter of the type of health care rationing that exists under the British National Health Service, and his appointment will only serve to increase the bureaucracy in our health care system.

"Hearings on this nomination would have shown the American people just how bad a nominee Dr. Berwick is, but the president has denied them that opportunity," said Vitter.
