Blog: Investing in Colorado's Clean Energy Future

Last weekend, I was proud to announce that Colorado-based Abound Solar Manufacturing LLC will receive a $400 million loan guarantee from the government. Abound, which will manufacture state-of-the-art solar panels, is a prime example of the innovative Colorado companies that are creating well-paying jobs for the 21st century and jumpstarting exciting new technologies that will reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign fossil fuels.

The thin-film solar panels produced by Abound can be constructed at lower cost and will emit less greenhouse gas during the manufacturing process than the crystalline silicone-based modules that are commonly used today. When Abound reaches its peak production capacity in 2013, it will produce millions of solar panels annually. That is quite a success story, and all Coloradans should be proud.

As your Senator, my top priority is to secure for Coloradans well-paying jobs that inject new life into our economy. I will continue to pursue pro-business policies and encourage investments that attract more companies like Abound to open up shop in Colorado.
