Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) today issued the following statement prior to the President's planned signing of the Iran sanctions bill:
"I look forward to joining President Obama as he signs legislation into law that represents our best chance to peacefully deter Iran's nuclear program. By threatening to cut off international firms and financial institutions from the U.S. marketplace, we wield tremendous leverage in convincing the world to stop dealing with Iran.
"The President has bipartisan support to carry out his authority to sanction those international entities who serve as enablers of the Iranian nuclear program. Exercising this power may not be very popular in various world capitals, but as the leader of the free world, it is incumbent upon President Obama to do everything in his power to head off the Iranian nuclear threat."
