With 51 percent of the total votes cast, South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan defeated Richard Cash in a run-off election on Tuesday to become the Republican nominee for the Third Congressional District Seat in the United States House of Representatives.
Duncan received 37,300 total votes compared to Cash's 35,129. Duncan easily won the majority of votes in Laurens County with 78.49 percent of the votes which totaled 4,502 votes. Duncan won all 36 of the Laurens County precincts.
"Laurens County voters turned out today. I want to say thank you to Laurens County voters because without them we wouldn't have won," said Duncan. "The voters were looking for someone with experience and who could hit the ground running. And, I will do just that."
Duncan said he planned to take some time off before hitting the campaign trail for the general election in November when he will face Democratic nominee Jane Dyer, who won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House Seat two weeks ago.
