As the new healthcare law begins to go into effect, many Americans are still wondering how it will affect their families and businesses. Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services unveiled a new website with all of the information and resources people need in one place at http://healthcare.gov. The site, which was mandated by the new law, will serve as a consumer-friendly site where Missourians can find out more about their healthcare options. The site lists all available public and private insurance plans within a given zip code, helps people determine if they qualify for subsidies, and also provides links where Missourians will be able to determine if their doctor is an approved provider in the plans.
The new "one-stop" site unveiled today will allow consumers to easily compare benefits provided by various private insurance plans. McCaskill, who supported the health insurance reform efforts, made the following statement on the new site:
"When people visit healthcare.gov, I think people will see what the new healthcare law is all about. A big goal of the bill was to connect people to affordable healthcare options, so they can make the best choice for their family, and that's exactly what this website does," McCaskill said.
