Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement, Monday, June 28, 2010, on the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on McDonald v. Chicago, which extended the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms to all fifty states:

"I was pleased to hear the Supreme Court saw the clear meaning of our Constitution and affirmed the right to keep and bear arms as an individual right, and that no state has the power to take away this precious constitutional right of every law-abiding American."

BACKGROUND: Congressman Guthrie joined 58 senators and 251 representatives in signing an amicus curiae brief asking the U.S. Supreme Court to find in favor of the petitioners and rule that the Second Amendment does apply to the states.
