Dr. Rudolph "Rudy" Moise is strongly committed to equal rights for all citizens, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Protect from Discrimination
Rudy Moise believes that every American, regardless sexual orientation or gender identity, has the right to be free from discrimination. He is a strong supporter of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act currently pending before Congress and urges its swift passage. Rudy will support and sponsor legislation making it illegal to discriminate based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Repeal "Don't Ask Don't Tell"
Rudy Moise stands firmly behind President Obama's call to repeal the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy and supports the LGBT community being able to serve openly in our armed services. He encourages congress to swiftly pass this legislation and is committed, once he is elected, to working with the Department of Defense to fully enact the repeal.
Stop Hate Crimes
Rudy Moise applauds Congress and President Obama for enacting the historic Matthew Sheppard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act during the 111th Congress. Rudy also believes that bullying in schools is a major problem and harmful to the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of our nation's youth. Therefore, he will support legislation which strictly enforces anti-bullying policies and stops hate crimes in our community.
Promote HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention
Rudy Moise is physician with the training and knowledge necessary to contribute to the debate over what must be done to prevent the further spread of HIV and raise awareness about its impact in both the LGBT community and the nation at large. He will support constructive efforts and legislation that will raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and prevent its spread as well as fight for reform in Medicaid and Medicare policies.
Support Civil Unions
Rudy Moise believes that any person in a committed and loving relationship should not be denied legal recognition of that relationship by their government. Same-sex couples who are in committed long-term relationships currently do not have access to over 1100 federal benefits and often lack access to spousal health insurance or life insurance, or the right to see an ailing partner in the hospital. Rudy will support legislation that grants same-sex couples the right to enter into a civil union.
Loving Homes for Children in Need
Rudy Moise has always been a strong supporter of joint-adoption rights for LGBT Americans. Rudy believes that adoption rights for LBGT Americans are an opportunity to provide children with a stable and loving two-parent home. Florida currently bans adoption by same-sex couples. Rudy will support legislation granting LGBT couples the right to adopt.
