I love the outdoors. I've been a hunter my whole life. I want nature conserved for our children and grandchildren. My voting record in the Georgia House of Representatives reflects a common sense approach to the environment. It is important for Georgia to reach an agreement with Florida and Alabama on the water issue. The federal ruling regarding Lake Lanier has put us in a perilous position if we don't plan carefully. SW Georgia needs a representative who will protect our personal, business, and agricultural water needs.
I will support reasonable legislation to protect our environment but will adamantly reject ill conceived efforts like the Cap and Trade bill. This bill alone will be a job killer for Southwest Georgia. If Cap and Trade becomes law it will increase costs for electricity, diesel fuel, gasoline, fertilizer every time we turn on a light, plow a field, fertilize a crop, or build a new factory, it means more money out of our pockets that will go to the federal government!
I'm for smart conservation that balances environmental and human needs without sacrificing jobs or increasing taxes.
