Even though Arkansas has not experienced the degree of economic downturn that most of our neighbors have, unemployment and our economic future are at the forefront of everyone's mind. Current indicators suggest that we've weathered these tough times better than almost every other state. I worked hard on the legislature's efforts that cut taxes over the last four years by more than $650 million. We also enacted the law which created the Governor's Quick Action Closing Fund. This new approach to economic opportunities helped us land two important windmill blade plants, Hewlett-Packard's Conway facility, the Caterpillar plant in North Little Rock , and many others. I'll be looking for more ways to bring new business to Arkansas in the future.
