The responsibility for a child's education lies primarily with the parent. Schools with high parental involvement perform best. In our state, lawyers, judges, legislators, administrators, consultants and the teacher's union are hard at work to justify a different conclusion. Ultimately, they will slice up that half-baked pie and present the bill to you, the taxpayer. It will be hard to swallow and expensive. More money is not the only answer. The Little Rock Public School District spends more per student than most districts in the state yet less than 30% its eighth grade students are competent at eighth grade math and verbal skills. I will fight for accountability, higher scholastic standards, school vouchers and expanded charter school programs.
