Every day, America imports more and more of its energy needs from Middle Eastern countries that are both hostile and unstable. We depend on criminal cartels and volatile world markets for our very security. It doesn't have to be this way. We need to:
- Develop a long-term plan for becoming energy self-sufficient by
looking for alternative energies right here at home.
- Diversify our energy resources by looking to solar, wind, coal, geo-
thermal, and nuclear energies.
- Invest in modern technology that will make energy exploration more
efficient and more environmentally clean than ever before.
- Encourage and incentivize action at the local level by working
hard to get new businesses, such as Clean Coal Power, to come to
Paducah and build new plants -- creating jobs, bringing new revenue,
and bringing us one step closer to independence from foreign oil.
We need an energy policy that not only enhances our national security, but also one that relieves the pressure at the pump for hardworking families. We simply can't afford NOT to act.
