Senator Mensch has been a long time supporter of strengthening law enforcement in our region and Commonwealth. He is working to improve public safety by adding more police officers to our streets. The Senator believes that there is no greater peace of mind than knowing our children, our homes, our neighborhoods and our loved ones are safe from harm. That is why he is placing high priority on putting forth measures to increase public safety in every community of our Commonwealth.
By introducing essential legislation, we can focus on a variety of public safety measures such as:
* School safety
* Increasing law enforcement officers across the Commonwealth
* Protecting citizens from violent and sexual predators
* Initiating a stronger emergency response alert system during any disaster
While, Senator Mensch was still a member in the House, he introduced House Bill 2248, which is a component of a multi-faceted legislative package to fight drug crimes. This bill pertains to prescription medication, showing the largest increase in abuse by teenagers. The bill would make the stealing of another person's prescription medication or prescription forms a first-degree misdemeanor and the stealing of prescription medications from a distributor or manufacturer a third-degree felony
