Visitors of western Montgomery County are pleasantly surprised with the amount of open space that remains, despite the residential growth. Senator Mensch is working to see that one tract of 151 acres of open space is added to the 2,000+ acre inventory in Marlborough. Additionally he appealed to, and won the cooperation of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to partner with Natural Lands Trust so another 46 acres of open space along the Unami Creek could be conserved.
Bob's leadership for Open Space is not just about purchasing land for the Township with Growing Greener funding. In 1991, he acquired several acres for the benefit of flora, fauna and the environment. Today this space is filled with maturing trees, birds, deer, fox and turkey--a truly positive impact on our shared community environment. As a founding board member of Unami Watershed Conservancy, Bob is part of a small, but growing, group of citizens that will see to the protection of our watershed and that our children and grandchildren can enjoy the same quality water and environment that we enjoy.
Open Space is a critical issue for all of us. We need it for many things, which is why Senator Mensch supports different initiatives such as Growing Greener. Without the proper stewardship, our creeks, forests, flowers, animals, open space and clean air will be threatened forever. Senator Mensch will not let our environment be harmed.
