Congressman Watt's Statement on the Office of Congressional Ethics' Review

Statement

Congressman Mel Watt (12thDistrict of North Carolina) made the following statement regarding the Office of Congressional Ethics' review:

"I was advised recently that the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) has initiated an investigation of several contributions to my campaign committee. It's unfortunate that this has been leaked to the press and that could leave the impression that there has been some impropriety. Despite that, I think it's better for me not to comment about the investigation until it is completed except to assure my constituents and the public that I am fully confident that the investigation will conclude that there has been no violation of either the letter or the spirit of any laws or ethical standards."
