A Clean and Abundant Water Supply
Water is our greatest and most important resource. We use water every day for cooking, cleaning, consumption, and to generate power. With recent droughts and the continued growth of the Southeast, we are facing the stark reality that our water supply is drying up. Now neighboring states want to use our water for their purposes. This cannot happen.
As Commissioner, I will fight for Alabama's right to the water supply in our region. We must make sure that other states are not allowed to take more than is legal and necessary, as doing so will harm our state and our economy. I will propose new policies which will strictly observe and record the use of water in our area to ensure that no state or municipality is abusing the privilege of using our water. This will make sure that we have an abundant supply of water for our homes, farms, and businesses.
In addition to abundant water, our water must be clean. As Commissioner, I will propose new initiatives which will encourage proper care and use of our water system. These policies will be aimed at educating the public as well as elected officials in regard to proper care and treatment of water sources. By creating programs aimed at keeping our rivers, lakes, and streams cleaner, we will we be able to produce more usable water, while also encouraging the use of our waterways for recreational activities.
