Dodd Statement on Votes to End "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

Statement

Date: May 28, 2010

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) released the following statement on last night's votes by the Senate Armed Services Committee and the House of Representatives to repeal the military's policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

"Last night's votes brought us one step closer to finally ending this policy that discriminates against gay and lesbian Americans who are willing and able to serve in our military," said Dodd. "For the sake of our servicemen and women, our national defense, and the American values our military defends, we must end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell.'"

Dodd is a cosponsor of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2010, which was introduced earlier this year by Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT).
