Congressman Parker Griffith recognized today the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) provided the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS) regarding the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant to the Environmental Protection Agency and other state and federal agencies.
"The FSEIS sent to the EPA that has been published in Federal Register is encouraging movement as it identifies the completion of Bellefonte as the preferred project alternative," said Griffith. "The decision is key to encouraging economic development as it will create thousands of new jobs in North Alabama if approved by the TVA board. It is positive to see we are getting one step closer to final completion of Bellefonte and I pledge to provide any assistance necessary to see the project through to its finishing point."
Griffith supports the completion of Bellefonte Nuclear Plant as it addresses the state's growing energy needs using domestic energy resources while bringing much needed jobs into the area.
Building or completing a Bellefonte reactor is consistent with TVA's goals of producing reliable, affordable electricity and increasing our carbon-free generating capacity.
