Our Founding Fathers believed that life was precious, and made a point of ensuring that our right to life was protected. This also applies to those who are alive -- and not yet born. I believe that life begins at the moment of conception, and thus oppose abortion. Some people running for office like to talk about their position on life, but have no record of backing it up. As a member of the House and the Virginia Senate, I have consistently supported pro-life legislation, and supported legislation to de-fund Planned Parenthood. I am proud of my ranking with Virginia's Family Foundation, which over my legislative career is nearly 100%. My record on life issues is sound. My position on life also applies to the matter of stem-cell research. I oppose all efforts to create embryonic stem cells -- creating life -- in order to end it.
I am also a strong believer that marriage is between one man and one woman. As a member of the state legislature, I have voted in support of Virginia's Constitutional Amendment protecting marriage -- and I have voted against Civil Unions.
As a Member of Congress I will:
* Support pro-life legislation
* Continued support of the Hyde Amendment and oppose any attempts to bi-pass or replace it
* Oppose Embryonic Stem cell research
* Support Constitutional Amendment to protect marriage
* Oppose Civil Unions
