Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. made the following statement regarding the President's request to deploy 1,200 National Guard troops to our border with Mexico:

"I commend the President's decision today to strengthen the defense of our national borders. Our National Guard heroes should be guarding our own borders, not the borders of Iraq or Afghanistan, for any nation that does not defend its borders will cease to exist."
