Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Ander Crenshaw today (5/27) announced the second winning project "YouCut" proposal as Americans across Northeast Florida and the nation continue voting in overwhelming numbers for their favorite federal spending cuts under the new program.

"More than a half million Americans have cast votes for their favorite spending cuts since the start of project "YouCut' so that their voices will be heard. In the second week of the initiative, 87,000 votes were cast to eliminate the federal employee pay raise and save Americans $2 billion next year and $30 billion over ten years," said Crenshaw, Republican Deputy Whip and Member of the Whip's Economic Recovery Working Group. "Congress is expected to take an up or down vote on eliminating this pay raise by the end of this week, and we'll continue fighting each and every week to cut wasteful federal programs. We won't be able to solve the spending problem in one swoop. But, we can address it one cut at a time with the goal of replacing Washington's culture of spending with a culture of savings, Future generations depend on it."

A fresh round of spending cut options is now posted on the "YouCut" website at http://republicanwhip.house.gov/YouCut. Individuals can log on to cast or text in their choice from a list of the following five proposed spending cuts: refocusing National Archives activities on preserving federal records for $10 million; reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for $30 billion; terminate broadcasting facility grant programs for $25 million; reduce spending on non-essential and questionable research; and consolidate and reduce funding for federal advisory committees.

Crenshaw, Republican Deputy Whip and member of the Whip's Economic Recovery Working Group, joined House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) in announcing the new "YouCut"program,on May 12.
