New Jersey is home to 127 miles of coastline, and a good stretch of it can be found within the 3rd Congressional District. More than 35 million people living within 100 miles of our beaches, and they are an essential part of a multi-billion dollar coastal tourism industry critical to the economic well-being of Ocean County and our State.
Since his election to Congress, John Adler has appeared to take a more keen interest in preserving our beaches. However, as recently as 2008, Adler was an opponent of beach replenishment -- voting cut $9 million from the Shore Protection Fund in New Jersey's state budget.
As the next Congressman from the 3rd District, you will never have to guess where I stand on this issue. I will take my responsibility for securing federal dollars to protect our shoreline very seriously and I will never waiver from that commitment.
